Baseboard Heating – HOW IT WORKS

Water is heated in the boiler, which ranges from 160 to 200 degrees (F). Gas and fuel are typically the two most common fuel sources for the boiler.

After the water is heated, a circulating pump will distribute heated water throughout the home. The water from the boiler is carried to the baseboards by copper water lines. Each unit has a thermostat.

When room air temperature drops below the thermostat setting, zone valves are activated, which in turn allows heated water to move through the copper water lines to emit heat. When the room reaches the desired setting, the thermostat will automatically close the zone valve. Any cold water is then returned to the boiler and reheated. This process continues to repeat as room temperatures within your home change.
