Will a Ductless Heating System work for me?

When it comes to HVAC – heating, ventilation and air conditioning – for your home, there are different ways to regulate indoor temperature and different systems you can use depending on your home and your particular needs.

If you live in the Central or Eastern part of Pennsylvania, you know how extreme weather conditions can get. With Fall and Winter seasons upon us, now is the time to prepare for the cold weather and take steps to ensure your home is comfortable and pleasant.

While a ductless system is one of the best solutions to air-condition your home, did you know you could also use ductless systems to heat your home?

Here are some of the main benefits of using the ductless heating system:

Ductless mini-splits are modern and energy-efficient, and ductless systems are perfect for homeowners who experience a wide range of weather extremes, from deep snow and subzero temperatures, to the heat and humidity.

Ductless splits can give you total control of your family’s heating or cooling in a problem room or problem section of the house, or can work to heat and cool your whole home. These systems also greatly complement existing types of HVAC systems.

Sometimes you just need to heat or cool your living space or certain areas in your home – and often times those areas are hard to heat, such as sunroom, attic, basement, addition, etc. Mitsubishi ductless splits’ technology enables the indoor unit to condition the air in those hot and cold rooms.

Ductless systems are basically a mini heat pump without the duct work, so they don’t suffer from duct losses and are much more energy-efficient. In fact, most are so efficient that they qualify for energy-savings rebates from your local electric utility.

If you have an older home without ductwork, you can still enjoy forced air heating instead of radiators, or in addition to them.

If you use oil heat, you can either replace it with a ductless system, or use the ductless in addition to it for the rooms you use the most and want to heat – simply make it a pleasant 70 degrees there and keep the oil thermostat set at 60 degrees in the rest of your home.

Ductless systems are often the most efficient systems available, up to 40% more efficient than traditional systems with heating performance being far superior to traditional heat pumps, since no heat is lost to ductwork.

Instead of paying to cool/heat your home all year long, with Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating systems you can actively heat or cool the rooms you live in; simply turn down the main thermostat for the other rooms. Zoning your home to how you live allows you to save energy while maximizing your personal comfort. Mitsubishi Electric utilizes INVERTER-driven compressors, so systems automatically adjust to changing conditions to deliver ideal comfort while only using the energy that is needed.

Thanks to hot-start technology, Mitsubishi H2i Hyper-Heating INVERTER™ heat pump makes ductless a high-efficiency, all-seasons comfort solution for your home, providing warmth from the start, as you’re not waiting for radiators to heat up, and reducing drafts. Simply turn on the ductless mini-split indoor unit for instant heat.

Another great benefit is that Hyper-Heating INVERTER technology operates effectively down to -13º F, giving you true year-round comfort from a single system.

Constantly filling your oil or propane tank during the cold winter can be costly, and with Mitsubishi’s Hyper-Heat you can lessen or even eliminate your dependence on fossil fuels, making ductless an affordable alternative to oil and gas.

In addition to lowered energy costs, a ductless system also offers a more flexible alternative to traditional ducted systems, and can be more readily installed in a home. Models include wall-mounted units, floor models, and recessed installations. There are no vents or ducts to worry about, plus these units are extremely quiet.

With ductless heating and cooling, there is less dust, pet hair, pollen, and other irritating substances distributed through the air in your home.

Ductless units are easy to maintain – just change the filter about once a month. Plus, service is simple and most systems offer excellent warranties.
