A new US DOE (Dept. of Energy) regulation, the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act- (NAECA), will go into effect April 16, 2015 which will affect the options you have when replacing your home water heater. There will be several changes including higher efficiency standards, higher equipment costs, and larger sizes for the new models which may not fit where your present water heater is located.

You may wish to act now and avoid the costly restrictions coming from the new regulations.

What you should know:

  • You may have to pay up to 30% more for your replacement water heater
  • You may have to pay even more for the replacement installation
  • You may have to purchase a more expensive tankless model or heat pump unit to conform to the new stipulations
  • You may have to re-locate the position of the water heater due to size
