UGI Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has just completed a campaign that has helped to raise money to feed the hungry – right in time for Christmas. During the holidays it’s good to remind ourselves that there are those who are less fortunate, and to stay in the spirit of the holidays by giving back to those who need our help.

We are proud to announce that, with the help of our customers and neighbors, UGI Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has been able to donate a total of $15K to local food banks during our Warming Your Heart and Home Charitable Campaign.

Members of the UGI Heating, Cooling & Plumbing team visited each of the following three food banks the week before Christmas to present a check for $5K to each of them: Central PA Food Bank, Greater Berks Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Bank.

We visited Central PA Food Bank in Harrisburg, PA, on Monday, December 18^th. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has been dedicated to ending hunger for more than 30 years. Serving 27 counties, it is the largest non-profit food distribution organization in central PA, as it solicits, inventories and distributes food and other donated products to more than 900 partner agencies (food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, etc.) that directly serve people struggling with hunger. The Food Bank distributes more than 48 million pounds of food and grocery products – an equivalent of 40 million meals!

Our team visited Greater Berks Food Bank in Reading, PA, on Tuesday, December 19^th. The Greater Berks Food Bank collects, purchases, stores, and distributes over seven million pounds of food annually to the more than 300 programs, feeding the hungry in Berks, Schuylkill, and western Montgomery Counties.

Finally, we took the money raised to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Allentown, PA on Wednesday, December 20^th. Second Harvest Food Bank, located in the heart of the Lehigh Valley, administers a number of programs to further the mission of aiding those individuals at-risk for hunger in Lehigh, Northampton, and Carbon counties.

As warmly expressed by the Central PA Food Bank: “Your ‘Warming Your Hearts & Homes’ campaign is a creative and meaningful way to engage your customers, your team and the folks here at the Food Bank to provide for those in need in our community. As we mentioned, your gift will enable the Food Bank to provide 30,000 meals to our neighbors who are struggling with hunger. That’s huge! Your generosity is making a difference and we’re grateful”.

For us at UGI Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, this was an amazing way to end the year and begin 2018 filled with pride and sense of community, as we look forward to continuing to be of service to our neighbors here in Pennsylvania.
